latcui 4.18 – Cinco de Mayo

This Saturday

We celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a Mexican fiesta for 15 at Melissa’s in Kennington. Melissa writes:

“The 5th of May is a day for celebrating the defeat of the French by the Mexican army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Usually a day to drink tequila til you drop in the USA, it is also celebrated locally throughout Mexico, but particularly in Puebla. For this Latitudinal Cuisine, let’s celebrate victories over aggressors of all kinds. The theme will be obviously Mexican, preferably with a vegetarian twist. So bring on the guacamole, the salads with lots of coriander and tomatoes, corn chips, mole, chipotle and all that good stuff. Tex-Mex is also a viable option. Other than tequila, think Negra Modelo beer, Corona with lime, aguas frescas, horchata, let it be a Mexican smorsgabord.”

See you Saturday!

Ole!
